The excitement is high when we travel to awesome tourist destinations. However, some make mistakes when they travel, which can make the experience less fun. Let’s take a look at some of the common mistakes people make when they travel.
Not keeping a copy of your ticket. No matter how tech-savvy you are, it is always useful to save a copy of your ticket. Screenshot your ticket or download an app to have a copy of your ticket on your phone. Having a printed copy of your ticket can save you time, money and a lot of anxiety in case a situation requires you to show a copy. Also, a copy of your reservations can be helpful.
Overpacking. Bringing a lot may result in unwanted excess baggage fees. Most travel destinations have hotels that provide laundry services, so you will want to avoid packing a lot of your stuff and use only a few of them. If you plan to backpack, bring only the essential things to have a lighter load.
Contacting your credit card company before travel. If you will use your credit card on your travel, make sure there will not have any issues. Using your credit card abroad may prompt an unusual spending pattern if the company is not aware of your overseas trip. This may result in a suspended transaction. Though it may not mean your card is invalid, for safety reasons it will require verifications. Such a case can be a hassle for you and the shop.
Not verifying your phone plan. Long-distance calls can be very costly, even if you are on the receiving end of the call. You do not want to see a huge phone bill when you return home. Before you travel, make sure you know what your data plan is and adjust accordingly. You may arrange to use local phone cards in the country you plan to visit.
